Q: How long will the job take? A: The average length of time a job takes depends upon many factors such as: how cut up is the space, the direction or flooring either to be installed or sanded however in existing homes it often runs at 200 ft per day to sand and finish 200 ft a day to install (always round up).
Q: How much will if cost? A: How we charge for installation, sanding and finishing depends upon a verity of factors. Please contact us to arrange an on site visit.
A: Generally, the answer to this is: YES. However, if we are installing new material or pre-finished flooring then, as long as the area being worked on is free of traffic, you may choose to stay. When we start the sanding and finishing stage, we must have the area to ourselves. This also means that any other contractors who might be working on your house must vacate while we are in this stage. Depending upon the type of finish being used, foot traffic should be limited for several days following the final application of finish.
Q: Will we have to move all our belongings? A: Yes. For some jobs this can often be likened to moving house especially if there are such items as pianos involved. Often there is enough room in other parts of the home to store most of the furniture, though in some cases it involves getting in the movers! Remember also that you will have to board your pets and probably eat out and/or figure into your calculations the cost of a hotel room while work is underway. We want a really hard finish. Often I interpret this to mean we don't want the floor to dent . There is no finish I know of presently that will make the wood harder. If this is a new instillation then I suggest choosing a species of wood that will stand up to the kind of life style you lead. Floor finish is designed to resist scuffing and to protect the wood surface by acting as a wear layer between your feet and the wood. Some work better than others at this but as with most thins in life its not a liner path to choosing floor finish. There are personal environmental concerns to consider as well as the long term durability issue. Contact me directly at (503) 287-3301, for a conversation on this issue.
Q: Do you guarantee your work? A: Oregon state law say that you have one year from the completion of the work to ask us back to perform repairs or touch up if there has been some kind of failure of either the wood or the finish. Beyond this we will always come back to fix any problem that may arise as long as it pertains to the work we performed.
Q: Are you licensed? A: We are licensed and bonded with the State of Oregon. Our ccb# is 124047. You should, for your own safety, only choose to work with contractors that are licensed. Licensing information is available one line through the Oregon state contractor construction board website. We are also a member of the Better Business Bureau. |
